Sweets by Cené has made a promise to donate to one organization as well as committing to two community service projects annually. Updates will be posted here before and after contributions. February 2022
This Black History month I wanted to pay homage to an organization that has helped me grow into the unapologetic Black Baker that I am today. The University of Cincinnati's African American Cultural Resource Center has provided support and excellent resources to UC students for 30 years. By purchasing throughout the month of February, I will donate a portion of my proceeds to help the AACRC raise the money they deserve! You can also donate directly below.

I found out that a few University of Cincinnati campus organizations were creating lunch sacks for the homeless community around Cincinnati. Along with volunteering to make and distribute the lunches., I wanted to donate sweets to add to the sacks.

My original plan was to bake about 100 desserts. Shortly after starting I decided to double my donation. After baking a little over 200 desserts, I attended the "prepping session". The lunches included 1-2 sandwiches, a bag of chips, water, and one of my sweets. Several hours of prepping the lunches, we had enough supplies to create lunch sacks for about 200 lunch sacks- a dessert in every bag!

I don't have many pictures for this day, but I honestly didn't want to make the day about pictures. With the help of my friend, we drove around town and passed out every sack lunch allotted to us. I appreciated the opportunity to give to those in need, but I am definitely eager to give back to the community again soon!
